Then he remembered something his grandmother had told him. "Did you know," he said, "that the stars we see in the night sky are actually giant balls of fire, like the sun? They"re just so far away that they look tiny. " The bear"s eyes widened in surprise. "I didn"t know that," he admitted. "You"ve taught me something new. You may pass. " "Thank you, Mr. Bear!" said Pip, and he and Fern hurried along. Finally, after what felt like hours, the trees began to thin, and a soft golden light appeared in the distance. They had reached Sparkling Meadow! The field was even more magical than the stories had described. Flowers with glowing petals swayed in a gentle breeze, and streams filled with sparkling water sang the sweetest songs.
